Live Illustration

Bring your meetings and conferences to life with compelling visual summaries of all the important conversations and presentations.

I provide my live illustration (aka graphic recording or live scribing*) services for conferences, workshops, and meetings, both in-person and online from my base in the Canary Islands.

Whether you want to spark engagement at an event or help participants remember key ideas from a workshop, live illustration makes your content stick — beautifully.

Based in Las Palmas, working with clients across Spain, Europe, and online worldwide.

How It Works: From Brief to Final Visual

1. Pre-event briefing & preparation

Before your event, we’ll talk through your goals, topics, and audience.

I’ll prepare a visual approach that matches your tone and brand, so your live illustrations feel perfectly integrated.

2. Live illustration during your event

During the event, I listen, distil, and draw transforming spoken ideas into clear, engaging visuals in real time.

This can happen live in the room as a large scale paper graphic, digitally on the iPad and projected for the audience, or digitally shared in virtual or hybrid settings.

3. Post-event refinement & delivery

After the session, I tidy up and digitize your visuals, creating polished, high-resolution artwork ready to share as PDF, PNG, or SVG files. If it’s a paper graphic I will send you the original after scanning.

You’ll receive everything you need for internal reports, social media, or printed posters.

When Live Illustration and Graphic Recording Make an Impact

Live illustration works anywhere ideas are shared - these are just a few ways my clients use it:

  • Conferences & Summits to capture keynote messages and spark conversations.

  • Workshops & Training to help participants visualise learning and retain insights.

  • Strategy & Visioning Sessions to turn abstract thinking into clear, shared visuals.

  • Panel Discussions to summarise multiple voices in one visual story.

  • Hybrid & Virtual Events to create engagement for remote audiences in real time.

Large-Format Paper - Live Illustration Time-lapse

Here’s a quick look at what live illustration looks like in action - captured during a real event.
This large-format graphic was created on-site at a renewable energy conference in Prague, Czech Republic, where I captured key insights from multiple speakers and round-table sessions over an intense nine-hour day.

It was great to watch Verity create something so dynamic in real time. It wasn’t just about the finished piece, but about the process; the way the sketch developed from just a big blank page into something full of character, style and story.

When Your Event Is Over - Digital Timelapse Example

If I’ve created a digital graphic recording, you’ll get a smashing timelapse showing your illustration taking shape - like this one.

These are great for sharing with attendees afterwards and brilliant for engagement on social media - a lively recap that keeps your event’s ideas circulating long after it’s finished.

Some FAQ’s about Live Illustration and Graphic Recording

Wondering if you need a Live Illustrator at your event?

No event is too big, too small or too niche. Over the last decade, my pens, iPad and I have journeyed to events of all shapes and sizes.

From intimate meetings of ten to grand gatherings of a thousand, there is no limit to the impact of live illustration:

  • Annual Kick-Off Conferences

  • Strategy Meetings

  • Product Launches

  • Consumer Round Tables

  • Webinars

  • Industry Conferences

And location isn’t a problem either. I’ve zapped my way into events worldwide via live stream, Zoom, and Teams, making physical distance irrelevant.

These events have ranged from multi-day conferences to one hour webinars (and everything in between).

What Industries/Sectors do you cover?

Tech startups, educational forums, healthcare roundtables... all of the things…, although it’s fair to say that a lot of my work is centred around:

🔍Citizen Science and Social Change ☀️🌬Renewable Energy 🌿Sustainability ⚧🏳️‍🌈🧑🏽‍🦽Diversity, Equality and Inclusion 🩺Healthcare

and I’ve also done live illustration for organisations in:

📋 Insurance ✈️ Travel 🏭 Industrial 🚀Technology 💰Finance 🪆Human Rights 🛍 Consumer FMCG 💼 Consultancies 🔍Tax 🛎 Ethics and Compliance

to name but a few…

More FAQ’s

  • The first thing I need to know is the date of your event. I need to make sure I can fit you in the Tetris. Then I’ll need to know where the event is, whether you’ll need me there in-person or if it can be done virtually

  • That’s a very good question. Ideally a couple of weeks, especially if I have to travel. I like to have time to prepare and research the subject matter if necessary and also have clear what your objectives are for the final piece. That said I have been called to do a live illustration the day before the event!

  • Firstly the agenda and timings of the sessions are gold dust as they help me to plan out the graphic. Having a preview of the presentations is also really useful as it gives me the chance to think about how I can capture certain concepts etc.

  • Absolutely. If I’m working on paper I will endeavour to use markers to match your company colours - I have even mixed inks in the past to get as close s possible. If we are working digitally then I will use the Hex/RGB/CMYK colours in your branding guidelines.

  • That really will depend on several factors
How many days the event is (I do give a discount if it is multiple days).

Whether I have to travel, working virtually is obviously going to be less expensive. If I have to adapt to a different time zone then I may have to charge an additional travel day.

Your best bet is to get in touch and give me as much information as you can about your event or set up a discovery call with me and I will get a quote turned round ASAP.
