Event Season is here - how will YOU engage your attendees?

It’s that exciting time of year when my calendar starts filling up with conferences and kick-offs! It’s also got me reflecting on how much has changed since I began my journey as a graphic recorder and visual storyteller a decade ago.

🎨 Back in the day, when it came to live illustration, I was creating large-scale paper graphics, getting them scanned, and sharing them with my clients to share with attendees - that was pretty much the process.

Fast forward to today, and my role has expanded. As well as capturing all the key content of the event, I’m now often part of the design and development of conference graphics from the start, right through to how the final visual summaries are shared.

Fancy a Flipbook?

When it comes to sharing, I’m a huge fan of flip-books. They’re a dynamic way to tell the story of an event, combining video, photos, and, of course, the visual summaries. These interactive and engaging takeaways are perfect for sharing on social media, email campaigns, or even embedding on websites.

Here’s one I collaborated on for the Solar Quality Summit Europe earlier this year.

How about a nice time lapse of your visuals?

If it’s a digital live illustration job that I’m doing, then a time lapse animation of the visual summaries are always a winner with attendees. Just like flip books they are fab for sharing on socials, websites and emails. The nice thing about a time lapse animation is that viewers find them captivating to watch and so they are a brilliant way of reinforcing the important stuff that was talked about at your event.

Here’s one from Maritime Week Las Palmas from this summer.

There’s more!!

But I can’t show it because of those pesky NDA’s… but if you need templates, signage, even Miro boards designing around your conference content, then they are all in my ever growing visual thinking, graphic recording, live illustration, scribing toolbox!!
