It's Portfolio Throwback time, and as I'm often slow to post stuff I've got plenty of material to throw back to!!
Over the last twelve years I've done a lot of work in the health sector, in fact, one of the first pieces of work I did was for Sanofi, illustrating a series of initiatives they were running and I then went on to create a whole load of visuals to celebrate their sales team.
Mostly though my work has been aimed at helping clients to demystify illnesses so that patients can better understand them, as well as illustrate patient profiles and map out patient journeys.
Graphic Recording for Pharma Sector
From diabetes to chronic renal failure, Parkinson’s to psoriasis, lupus, cardiovascular disease, thoracic cancer ..and more, I’ve become (practically 😉) an expert in these areas. I’ve captured advisory boards and product launches, speaker trainings and town halls and often used these sessions to help attendees reach agreement of treatment options and patient journeys which can very often vary from region to region. From a series of workshops held across Spain with specialists and GPs from across the country. Each region reported slightly differently from the others.
Making scientific and medical information accessible and comprehensible for patients and their families is essential. This is where visuals can really do some heavy lifting. They not only simplify intricate data but also make patients feel seen during what can be an overwhelming and daunting experience. What surprised me when I first started working in Graphic Recording is the number of healthcare professionals who also have very handy drawing skills. In fact if you google ‘Graphic Medicine’ you’ll find some cracking examples.
Rich Pictures for Patient Friendly Communication
Of course it’s not just illnesses that can be hard to explain… Rich Picture illustrations and Graphic Recording can be used for all manner of complex concepts and processes. I’ve been involved with a number of Advisory Board meetings where specialists from the full patient journey get together in a room to discuss their role in patient care to make sure that nothing is missed in the chain of command and that the patient is in the picture every step of the way. Mapping out each specialist’s viewpoint helped them to see gaps and overlaps in patient care and enabled them to make changes to the process to ensure continuity and care at all times.
